Kelly's Bouquet

Check out Kelly's amazing bouquet!

I seriously love her wedding bouquet. It's so fun and whimsical. And the striped ruffle flowers just kill me. They're so adorable.

And the rose boutonnieres? What's cuter than these?

Photographic Proof That I Really Did Get Married!

We finally got our wedding pics back! Here are a few. There is a whole folder of them over on my Flickr stream.

I created my own button stems and then had local wedding vendor/artist Princess Lasertron make felt stems. The bridesgals had similar bouquets too.

We found this awesome tent at a golf course and rented it for the entire day at a ridiculously cheap price. We had both the ceremony and reception here and saved ourselves a ton of money. We also saved our guests from driving to two separate places.

How excited am I?

Our cutting cake was decorated like the Yellow Submarine cartoon. It was a surprise to Matt from me. The cake was unbelievable. It was chocolate with peanut butter mousse.

Our first dance was to, "Something" by The Beatles.

Look at me go!

Guess what I just did?

I placed the order for our wedding photos 10 days before the deadline.

Can you believe that? I almost can't.

That means that my pictures will be here 10 days sooner than if I'd waited to order until the last minute! Yay! The photographer guaranteed them in time for Christmas. Sweet. That's like what... another seven weeks? I can't seriously wait another seven weeks. All I've seen this far are thumbnails and low res pictures with giant watermarks on them.

PHEW!

Thank god that's over!

I am, of course, speaking of our thank you notes from the wedding. We did about ten a couple weeks ago and then never mailed them, never finished the stack. Just pushed it aside and forgot about it. Last night I cracked down and finished them while watching election coverage.

I was so happy to be done with it! (the cards and the election) Now all of our friends and family won't think we're ungrateful jerks. Eight weeks isn't completely obscene to get out thank you notes... is it? I was so worried about finishing the notes that I forgot to get stamps. I had exactly thirteen at home. So, a lucky thirteen will be getting their thank you cards in the next day or two. The others will have to wait a few days longer until I drag myself to the post office.

I put off working on some scarves to finish those thankyas, so I will be returning to that tonight along with praying for the band rehearsal in the basement to stop. It is sooooo loud in the house when they play. I need to find my ear plugs...

Come here it for yourselves:

What to Get a Groomsman?

I had no idea what to get the groomsmen for the wedding. I'd had an idea a while ago to make a Green Day scarf for Eric (one of the groomsmen) for his birthday. It occurred to me that instead of giving it to him for his birthday, I could make it a groomsman gift for him. And thus the idea was born to make the three boys in the wedding scarves within a week of the wedding. So far I have two finished...

Here's the Green Day scarf modeled by my soon to be legal partner in life, Matt:

And here is a close up of the Foo Fighters scarf, not modeled by Matt because it was taken super early in the morning:

Bachelorettehood Down the Toilet

It's Monday morning... It's raining, cold, I'm probably getting sick, but I'm fully recovered from the monster hangover I had Sunday, so it's all good. I went out Saturday night with a few of my close friends and they got me nice and trashed to celebrate my passing bachelorettehood. I thought the plan was to make the rounds in Dundee but Cat, Shannon, Jeff and Brandon surprised me by renting a gangster limo for a couple of hours. It was pretty sweet. We just drove around drinking in the limo. We stopped at one bar downtown to get a quick drink then went back to cruising like the Gs we are. I ended up drunker than drunk. You'd think I would have learned by now that beer, whiskey, vodka and champagne do not go together. But no. Evidently not. I consumed all of the above then I went home and payed the price by passing out with my head on the toilet. It was so very classy. I haven't thrown up from drinking since I was a rookie, and even then I blame that on some bad pasta (obviously not the Jack).

I had a lot of fun but I'm glad that bachelorette parties are a once in a lifetime occurrence. Thanks to the people that came out and helped make it memorable. Even though I don't remember all of it...

Jeff and Brandon's Commitment Ceremony Recap

Jeff and Brandon's commitment ceremony was on Saturday. It was an absolutely beautiful evening. The ceremony was lovely. Reverend Nancy Brink from North Side Christian Church officiated. (I love their message on the home page: "We support families, we don't define families.") She spoke so eloquently about the need of support in the gay and lesbian community. My favorite part was at the end when she said, "I now pronounce you bound together for life. One heart, one soul." (It was something like that. I was concentrating on not crying.)

I was so honored to stand up as an attendant for them. J and B mean the world to me. They are wonderful, beautiful, loving people. They deserve as much happiness and love as a traditional married couple. I know it really doesn't mean much to them, but I wish they could enjoy the same legal status that the rest of us do. Two people should be able to legally unify themselves, regardless of sex. Yes, the Bible defines marriage as being between a man and a woman, but last time I checked the "separation of church and state" was still in effect in America. What if someone doesn't believe in the Bible or isn't Christian? Why should they be legally obligated to follow the fundamentals of a religion that they don't practice? It really doesn't make sense to me. In my opinion, America has better things to worry about than who loves who. But I digress...

The reception was as equally beautiful as the ceremony. It was held at the Regency Lake Clubhouse. The tables and chairs were covered in white linens, with lime green tie-backs on the chairs. The center pieces were beautifully done by d.l. guenin from Denver. He arranged various types of green flowers and berries, white flowers, limes, candles and stones in clear glass vases. The room glowed. It was incredible. The cake was unbelievable. Usually wedding cake is baked a day or two ahead of time and is a little stale by the time you get around to the reception. This cake wasn't though. Not at all. It was some of the best cake I've ever eaten.

I will say that I looked surprisingly put together at their wedding. I had on a lovely dress that I adore and a beautiful Tiffany(!!!) necklace that was a gift from the couple. I paid someone to do my hair, which I hate, but which is necessary. I am a master of ponytails, but my hair talent ends there. I always end up looking like a kindergartner did my hair when I style it myself. I also did my makeup and it looked great until I cried most of it off.

All in all, it was a very classy affair. Everything Jeff and Brandon do is so sophisticated. Hopefully no one expects any class from Matt and me at our wedding.
